M1 vs M2 Air — what the extra AED 600 buys
Both run the current macOS and feel fast for everyday work, so this is really about what the extra AED 600 gets you. The M2 has a bigger 13.6-inch display, brings back MagSafe charging, adds two more speakers and a slightly quicker chip. The M1 is lighter on the wallet, a touch smaller, and still completely capable for browsing, Office and Zoom.
Both top out at 16GB RAM and drive a single external display, so neither is the pick for two monitors. If AED 1,500 is comfortable, the M2 is the nicer machine to live with; on a tight budget the M1 gives up very little for the money.
