What does the IMEI check tell me before buying a used iPhone in Dubai?+
The IMEI check at checkcoverage.apple.com tells you: (1) Whether the device is a genuine Apple product. (2) Whether it's iCloud locked — linked to a previous owner's Apple ID. (3) Warranty status — active AppleCare or standard warranty. (4) Carrier lock status. If the check shows "Linked to Apple ID" under Activation Lock, do not buy the device.
How do I find an iPhone's IMEI without turning it on?+
For iPhone 14 and earlier: the IMEI is printed on the SIM tray — no power needed. For iPhone 15 and later (eSIM only): you need to power on the device, go to Settings → General → About, or dial *#06#. You can also ask the seller to show you the IMEI in Settings before you agree to buy.
