A damaged iPhone is rarely worthless. The screen assembly, cameras, battery, Face ID module and logic board all have value, so even a phone that won't switch on gets an offer. The figure depends on the model, the storage and what exactly is broken. A cracked screen on a working phone keeps most of its value; a dead logic board keeps less.

• Cracked screen: if Face ID and touch still work, say so; it raises the offer. Put tape over a shattered back so glass doesn't spread.
• Water damage: don't charge it and don't put it in rice. Charging a wet phone is how a short becomes permanent.
• Won't turn on: try a known-good cable and charger for 15 minutes first. If it's still dead, sell it as-is.
